What happens if… fails?
Every network has single points of failure: parts that stop the office if they break. Take down the carrier, the firewall, the core switch or the power, and compare what happens on a basic network and on one designed with redundancy.
High availability
Duplicate what’s critical, watch the rest
Not everything gets duplicated, nor does it need to. The design identifies single points of failure, duplicates the ones that stop the whole office and covers the rest with monitoring and spares.
Internet breakout
Two carriers over different media, fibre and 5G or satellite, with automatic failover at the firewall or through SD-WAN.
Perimeter and core
High-availability firewalls and stacked core switches, with dual links to each floor. If one fails, the other takes over the traffic.
Power
A UPS with known runtime for the whole rack, including the carrier’s equipment, and alarms when it runs on battery.
What isn’t duplicated
Floor switches and single servers are covered with monitoring, backups and a preconfigured spare that can be swapped in minutes.
