Network self-assessment

Is your network ready?

Twelve checks we review at the start of any infrastructure audit: radio design, perimeter security and segmentation, documentation, continuity and operations. You’ll get an indicative maturity level and the priority items.

Answer based on how things are today. “I don’t know” is a meaningful answer too.

  1. The wireless network was designed from a coverage and capacity study (predictive or on-site).
  2. The guest network is isolated: its own VLAN, client isolation and direct internet breakout.
  3. The perimeter is protected by a next-generation firewall with current firmware and subscriptions (IPS, filtering).
  4. Admin credentials for the network equipment are unique and safeguarded, and management access is restricted.
  5. The network is segmented: users, servers, IoT, CCTV and printing on separate VLANs with policies between them.
  6. There is up-to-date documentation: topology, addressing, VLANs, inventory and configuration backups.
  7. Structured cabling is certified and the rack is tidy, with labelled patch panels and patch cords.
  8. There is WAN redundancy with automatic failover (two carriers, SD-WAN or 4G/5G backup).
  9. Critical network equipment is protected by a UPS with known, verified runtime.
  10. No network device is out of vendor support (EoL/EoS) and firmware is on supported versions.
  11. The network is monitored continuously, with alerts for availability, link saturation and interface errors.
  12. Network support has defined response times (SLA) and an escalation procedure.

From self-assessment to technical audit

A self-assessment doesn’t replace a review of the infrastructure. In an audit we analyse configuration, perimeter security, segmentation, wireless and cabling, and deliver a report with the current state, prioritised risks and an action plan.
